Mark Ryan MP

Since originally being elected as the State Member for Morayfield in 2009, over the past fourteen years Mark Ryan has demonstrated a significant contribution to his local community in North Brisbane and has proved to be a prominent voice in Moreton Bay. Since 2020, Mark has also been serving as a Minister in the Palaszczuk Labor Government. His contributions to Moreton Bay have included advocating for investments within education, transportation, and infrastructure for the local sporting community.

About Mark Ryan MP

As a long-term local in the Caboolture-Morayfield Area, Mark Ryan spent his childhood attending St Eugene College located in Burpengary. Currently Mark resides in the same area with his wife and sons.

Mark is an incredibly active community member with a long history of volunteering at a variety of locations including Leukaemia Support Queensland, Caboolture-based homeless outreach program Rosies Youth Mission, and at the local Morayfield Lion’s Club.

Mark Ryan graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and International Relations. Prior to Parliament employment, Mark had an alternate career path practising as a lawyer at several Australian companies. He worked at a national law firm specialising in commercial law, and then afterwards working for Telstra as a National Section Councillor for the Community & Public Sector Union.

Throughout his political career, Mark Ryan has been a driving force behind several key policy initiatives that aim to foster economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability. As a vocal proponent of renewable energy, he has actively championed legislation supporting clean energy technologies and initiatives to combat climate change. Ryan has also been a staunch advocate for affordable housing, working to alleviate the housing crisis and ensure that all citizens have access to safe and affordable homes.

Mark Ryan strongly values connection to community spirit, work ethic and dedication to his political role. This can be perceived through his connection to a wide variety of local clubs and groups in the role of a patron. Ryan has strong affiliation with the Caboolture Disability Indoor Cricket, Caboolture Disability Support Network, Burpengary Pony Club and many more. His connection to his local community is recognisable through all his actions in his Parliamentary position as State Member for Morayfield and as Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Fire and Emergency Services in the State Government.
