Suncoast Spinners Women's Wheelchair Basketball Carnival

Suncoast Spinners are committed to providing opportunities to grow wheelchair basketball competition in Australia and are pleased to host the second Suncoast Spinners Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Carnival, growing women’s participation in sport.

Players register as individuals and a selection panel will select teams based on the competition selection criteria to create balanced teams which can run combinations within the carnivals modified classification rules.

Saturday 10th June

Day one: Skills session led by Paralympian Bridie Kean -Team selections - Lunch break - Master Class match by Elite Australian Women players. A watch and learn opportunity for developing players.

Sunday 11th June

Day two: Round Robin games culminating in medal presentations

  • 1st and 2nd placed teams
  • MVP
  • All Star five
  • Encouragement award
  • Player Door Prize: Melrose Suncoast Spinners Wheel Bag
  • Player registration has closed.


The selection criteria aims to place players into positions for the greatest benefit of the team.

Therefore, the panel will consider the following when allocating players into teams:

Positional balance of the team (a range of roles to allow for classification and team roles which lead to on-court balance).

Demonstrated ability to work with the other Players nominated for the team and under the leadership of coaches.

Skill development

Demonstrated attitude and commitment toward team cohesion

Demonstrated attributes of self-discipline, appropriate conduct and sportsmanship

Suncoast Spinners have a range of club chairs available to players requiring a loan chair for the carnival.
