Make promoting your next creative project a piece of cake! Learn the basics of writing, graphic design, and marketing in this interactive workshop.

Three experienced professionals will guide you through what you need to promote your creative project.

A free lunch is provided after the workshop where you can continue conversations with other creatives.

Schedule

  • 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM: Lightning talks and roundtable activities
  • 12:15 PM - 1:00 PM: Provided networking lunch

What will I learn?

  • How to create quality written, visual and marketing content.
  • How to improve your current bio or event blurb.
  • How to market and promote your project.
  • How to engage consultants like graphic designers, publicists, photographers or marketing specialists.

What to bring?

  • Notepad and pen
  • Content to discuss in the roundtable discussions:
  • A current 75-word bio or event blurb.
  • A headshot or project hero image or artwork image.
  • Notes on how you currently promote yourself or your work.

The facilitators

Louise Mayhew - writing

Louise is an art historian, writer, editor and creative mentor with a Bachelor of Art Theory, with First Class Honours, and PhD in Australian Art History at UNSW Art & Design.

Today, she shares her passion for art and the world around us through gallery lectures and public programs, professional development workshops, curating exhibitions, research and writing. Louise helps others to achieve their goals and reach new audiences through public relations, advocacy for women artists and arts workers, art world mentoring and grant advice, report writing, copy editing and proofreading.

Kirsten Sealey, The Ideas Dept - marketing

Kirsten is a highly experienced and passionate marketing and partnerships manager.

Her skills include creative development, curation and event management, marketing, brand development, audience engagement and the development and nurturing of stakeholder relationships.

Companies and projects that Kirsten has worked with include Curious Arts Festival (Toowoomba), Broad Encounters Productions, Vaxa Group, Expressions Dance Company, Brisbane Writers Festival and Empire Theatre.

Dowling Design - graphic design

Dowling Design are design and marketing specialists who know what it is like to create and deliver art to the public. As artists themselves, Dowling Design understand the challenges and obstacles that artists and creative organisations face. As members of the arts industry, they are uniquely positioned to service arts organisations as they share the same institutional knowledge and experience.
