The Moreton Bay Region is best known for its spectacular natural environments. Our beaches, valleys and parklands are a source of creative inspiration and connection.

In this workshop, local artist Ian McLaren will share insightful techniques on the art of en plein air - a french term for painting outdoors.

The 4-hour painting workshop will begin at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery. From the gallery, participants will walk to Pine Rivers Park. At the park, Ian will show some of his landscape sketching techniques and share how to capture light and colour in an outdoor setting. Afterwards, participants will return to the gallery to complete the artwork using a water-based medium on paper.

Stools and materials will be provided, however participants are welcome to bring their own.

What to bring

  • a packed lunch
  • water bottle
  • a hat.
