Opening event: Wish you were here and Interfacial Intimacies

May 18th at 2:00pm
Free Entry

This May we open two new exhibitions: Wish you were here and Interfacial Intimacies.

We will be celebrating the launch of these exhibitions with refreshments and a floor talk from Interfacial Intimacies curator, Caine Chennatt.

Wish you were here began as a response to the stop-start movement of COVID-19 by artist Kellie O’Dempsey. The exhibition transforms the monotony of pandemic life into a mesmerising carnival of ghostly shapes and otherworldly creatures. Using video, light installation, and augmented reality, O’Dempsey invites you into an immersive space that celebrates the joy of the everyday.

Musician and producer Mick Dick will be dubbing live excerpts from his 2023 ARIA nominated album ‘Id of Ra’. Mick’s work soundtracks O’Dempsey’s current installation Wish you were here.

Interfacial Intimacies brings together artists who hold and express tenderly the multiple aspects of their selves through a series of portraiture and anti-portraiture. Through photography, film, installations, sculpture, textile, and performance, this exhibition explores the tensions of our networked personalities - our shadows, our masks, our shame.
