About the book: Freycinet Barnes has built herself the perfect existence. With beautiful children, a successful husband and a well-ordered schedule, it’s a life so full she simply doesn’t fit. When she steps outside her calendar and is accidentally thrown into the generous bosom of the West Moonah Women’s Choir, she finds music, laughter, friendship and a humming wellspring of rage. With the ready acceptance of her colourful choristers, Frey learns that voices can move mountains, fury can be kind and life can do with a bit of ruining. Michael Jospeh, Penguin Random House Australia, 2022. About the author: Meg Bignell describes herself as a writer, farmer and mother. A career in nursing made way for a stint as a TV weather presenter before she surrendered to a persistent desire to write. She can act and sing and has written three novels - The Angry Women’s Choir (2022), Welcome to Nowhere River (2021) and The Sparkle Pages (2019). She lives on a farm in Tasmania with her husband, three children and 800 cows! * The Brisbane Writers Festival on 10–14 May brings together festive entertainment over five nights, four days and more than 100 events.
