Fight direction taster workshop

North Lakes and Mango Hill
April 11th at 5:45pm
Free Entry

Theatre makers, drama teachers and dancers keen to improve their stage movement skills and learn more about how to safely present perceived violence on stage can join this taster workshop.

Presented by Justin Palazzo-Orr from the Society of Australian Fight Directors, this workshop will ignite your interest in the philosophies behind fight direction and movement on stage and give you some great practical ideas and exercises to take away.

In this workshop you will:

  • learn about the physical movement and connection between actors on stage
  • get a taste for the basics of fight direction to show perceived violence onstage as part of live theatre
  • find out about the backstage processes such as safety audits and certification.

This three-hour workshop is only a taster of fight direction skills. Justin will talk about the formal entry-level course offered by the Society. The workshop's capacity is 20 participants.

Observer opportunity

The workshop is also open to observers. If you have missed out on participating or you would rather watch and learn then you can book in to observe. There is capacity for 40 observers. Observers are not able to participate in the workshop.
