Captured Moments Exhibition

Redcliffe
March 6th at 10:00am
Free Entry

Life is full of moments — a person, a place, a river, a landscape or a special tree — we long to capture and keep to revisit whenever our memories fail.

Captured Moments in painting allow us to keep those memories alive — not fade or be lost forever. We are reminded not only of the sights on our journey, but the touch, texture and smells when we recall our special moments. We revisit once more the touch or a beloved or special pet ... or recall the perfume of a favourite flower. Capturing the moment allows us to return to that moment in time and feel the joy of living.

Jo-Ann Middlebrough and Val Pettingill bring combined experience of over 30 years to mesmerise you with their exquisite, captured moments. Their exhibition spans the last few years of each of their art journeys.

The exhibition runs from Wednesday 6 March until Sunday 7 April 2024 at the Redcliffe Art Society’s Old Fire Station Gallery, 395 Oxley Avenue Redcliffe Q 4020.

Join us for the Official Opening on Saturday 9 March 2024 commencing 11:30am. The Gallery is open from Wednesday to Sunday 10:00am – 3:00pm. Entry is FREE

Jo-Ann Middlebrough is a talented local artist who has received recognition and encouragement through local community art awards and prizes. She loves to capture scenes of our precious Australian landscape and its flora and fauna in her distinct unique style. Her artworks are depicted in many mediums — oils, acrylic, watercolour, pastel and mixed media.

Valerie Pettingill is popular local art teacher and artist. Her teaching style shares her joy of painting and encourages a 'can-do' approach. Valerie’s love of our Australia shows in most of her paintings. For her, the Mighty Murray River in Victoria where she grew up, farms and animals and gum trees are special. ‘Plein air’ has become her favourite way of painting — seeing the changing light, real colours and 3D effect while sitting in a paddock is special, even with the wind, rain and cold. She likes to leave a little to the viewers’ imagination. Valerie paints in oils, acrylic, some pastel, but mostly watercolour. Her success is evident in her many awards, painting sales and commissions.
